This profile shot of Sonia carrying the baby was taken at the hospital around 7:30 Monday morning, just before Sonia changed into her gown for her induction. Very beautiful might I add.

Here's Sonia, changed and waiting on the Doctor to advise the Nurse on how he would like to start her induction. He ended up wanting to begin her inducement with a little tiny pill of which I cannot remember the name of. Anyhow, the nurse gave us the impression that she didn't really like it because this pill couldn't be regulated like the Pitocin can be. Something else that she advised us of is that the pill may have no affect to her at all or it may have possibly have a negative affect due to the fact that it couldn't be regulated. So, of course it ended up have the latter of the two. The baby's heart rate dropped dramatically below Sonia's very own heart rate, setting off all kinds of alarms. The nurse ran in the room and immediately gave Sonia a shot to the arm to countermeasure the pill. She told Sonia that the shot was going to feel like fire in her veins and afterwards Sonia agreed. The baby's heart rate stabilized and Sonia was experiencing some small shaking as if she had taken a Stacker III before working out. During this event, I was out of the room after Sonia told me to go eat. Luckily for my sanity, I forgot my wallet so I was only gone for a few minutes and caught the tail end of everything. It was scary when I was getting closer to the room and saw that the door was wide-open with alarms sounding, I was panicking until the nurse told me what had happened, Sonia was kind of out of it trying to take in some oxygen at that time.

Now after the incident with the pill earlier, Sonia was told that the Pitocin couldn't be started for at least four hours. So here she is, waiting it out, watching the screen that is monitoring her contractions. By the way, the pill was given to Sonia at 8:30 am, so we're looking at starting the Pitocin around 12:30. What a waste of 4 hours, right? The nurse was much more excited about the Pitocin, seeing how it can be regulated through the ivy inserted into Sonia's right wrist. It was a long and boring wait, but thank God Kim brought up some movies to watch, "Madia Goes to Jail", stupid funny. But we all had a good time filling the delay. During this time Sonia was dilated between 2 to 3cm. The Pitocin ended up starting at 12:45pm, after the Pitocin had started, Sonia's contractions grew stronger and occurred more frequently, but her nurse failed to regularly check her to see if she was dilated more. At 2:25pm, Sonia's water broke on it's own, and her nurse finally checked her again and found that she was dilated to 3cm. After that, Sonia wasn't checked again until, around 4:15pm when I had to go and find the nurse to figure out if Sonia could get her epidural because the pain started to become unbearable. After checking Sonia, the nurse told us Sonia was dilated between 7 to 8cm. As soon as she said that Sonia looked at me and said "I'm not getting my epidural". She paged for the Anaesthesiologist, and returned to the room to tell Sonia. It was roughly 5 minutes later that the nurse checked and told Sonia that she was dilated from 8 to 9cm and the Anaesthesiologist was still enroute. A few minutes past, and for the first time, Sonia began screaming, which got all the nurses (6) down the hall to run in, and I don't believe Sonia's nurse had to physically check her, she seemed to just look and say "You're at 10! Don't push, your Doctor is on his way." Earlier, around 4:25ish, the Doctor was notified of Sonia's increasing condition, he was only 10 minutes away. The Anaesthesiologist showed up just a couple minutes before her Doctor. He kind of gave a chuckle in the background after the nurse told him that she was dilated to 10cm. He said, "I guess that means she won't be getting her epidural after all," and took off. Well, like I said, it was only a couple of minutes until Sonia's awesome Doctor showed up. Seriously, he's a great guy. When he entered the room, her nurse finally decided to get her butt in gear. At 4:34pm, Sonia began to push and it was 2 minutes later that "Haley Danielle Baughman" arrived.

At 4:36pm, April 9th, the Baughman family welcomed their newest addition, Haley Danielle Baughman. She weighed 7lbs, 12oz and was 20inches in length at time of birth. An absolutely beautiful baby girl.

Here she is, after getting cleaned up a little bit, just laying there begging for the lights to be turned off.

That's my Strong, Beautiful, and very Loving Wife Sonia, holding our baby girl just minutes after giving birth to her. Come on everyone, Sonia is awesome, just look how great she looks just minutes after giving birth. They're beautiful. I won't even begin to try to related to the pain that she endured, because I can't and never will be able to, but I will say this, I've found a whole new respect for all women whom give birth. I guess you'd have to experience first-hand to understand that they do go through the greatest amount of pain in the world. Of course as men, we'll never experience that pain, and thank God, but like I said, watching it makes it all more the real to a person. And because of that experience, I am much more thankful to my wife, and know even more how strong she truly is.

As soon as Kim got the word from us that we were going to be able to keep the baby in our private room, she rushed over in excitement with Whitney. Before Whitney could say a word, I sat her down and showed her how to hold Haley. I wanted to do that right away so Whitney know that it was HER sister and she was REALLY here for her to love and take care of. It was obvious that Whitney was excited about the entire situation and that made Sonia and I both very happy. She even called her "Haley Baley", to what she thought was a cute nickname. Haha.

Auntie Kim's first time holding little Haley. Sonia and I are both very thankful for all that Kim has done for us. She kept Whitney from Monday morning to Wednesday night and took care of getting her to and from school each day so I would be able to stay at the hospital with Sonia. The moment we thought Kim couldn't do anymore, because she had done so much for us, She surprised us with dinner Wednesday night when Sonia, Haley, and myself all arrived home. Thanks Kim.

Our first, unofficial family photo. Haha. I believe Kim took this an hour and a half after Haley was born. Notice how great Sonia looks! Gosh, she's amazing. Whitney will always pose for the camera, so I can't say whether or not she's really happy, no I'm just kidding, she's still excited and a little unsure of how much her life will be affected by all this. But rest assure, Sonia and I will definitley work with Whitney and still ensure she feels important, because she still is. No new child will change that. Sonia is spending 'alone time' with Whitney so she still feels special. Which isn't hard for her, because Whitney loves to spend every waking moment that she isn't with her friends with her Mother. So it works out for everyone.

Lydia was down in Daytona Beach visiting family, so as soon as she was able to get away, she took the hour and a half drive to visit the girls in the hospital. Lydia came in the room and went directly to Haley, and here you see her trying to figure out who she favors. Which is still a mystery to Sonia and myself. Oh and I almost forgot, Lydia also copyrighted the phrase, "Hey Sunshine." Sonia really appreciated her visiting, which satisfies myself, because I enjoy seeing Sonia happy. Hopefully on Lydia's way back to Pensacola, where she lives, she'll stop here again and stay a night or two. I know we'll enjoy her company.
The next few are pictures we took of Haley while she was having her first photos taken of her in her beautiful outfit.

She loves that pacifier! I mean binki.
Gosh she's beautiful!
She's balling up her fists to take a swing! Watch out!

Here is Whitney, holding Haley for the second time. It wasn't very long before Whitney was telling us that Haley was getting to heavy for her, which we're happy that she is responsible enough to let us know so we can get her from her. She's going to be a great 'Big Sister'!

Alright, that's all the update I have right now. I'll update this within the next couple of days with more photos of everyone. Thank you all, God bless and take care.

Hi Everyone. Well today we are in the hospital getting induced. It is 11:10 and so far I'm having mild contractions brought on by this little pill they gave me. I or Chris will fill in the details within a few days. -Sonia
